When Christine Ebersole accepted the 2007 Tony Award for Best Lead Actress in a Musical, for her portrayal of both Edith Beale, and "Little Edie" Beale, she quipped "I left hollywood because they said I was over the hill"....and now I'm standing here with this most distinguished award for what I consider the role of a lifetime. I'm over the hill in the role of a lifetime! " In addition to the Tony, Christine Received the Obie Award, Drama Desk Award, Outer Critics Circle Award, and the Drama League Award for Performance of the Year, for her performance.
Well Christine is FAR from over the hill in any respect ! This was Christine's second Tony. The first for her performance in the revival of 42nd Street. Miss Ebersole made her Broadway debut in 1976 in Angel Street, and has since appeared in productions such as Love My Wife, On The 20th Century, Getting Away With Murder, Steel Magnolias, 42nd Street, and of course, Grey Gardens The Musical.
When looking at her TV and move credits, one has to wonder, "what HASN'T this woman done ! " In addition to her whirlwind series of appearances this spring promoting Grey Gardens, which included, The View, and Regis & Kelly, Christine has made guest appearances on Will & Grace, Just Shoot Me, & Murphy Brown, just to name a few. She even played Diana Ross's assistant in the TV movie Double Platinum. She was a regular on the 1981-82 season of Saturday Night Live, and the soap One Life To Live from 1983-1985. Her film appearances include Tootsie, Amadeus, Dead Again, Richie Rich, My Favorite Martian, and many more !

On a personal note, we'd like to say to Christine that here at MyGreyGardens.com, we think you're the very best ! The best for breathing new life into a character that we knew on a personal level, and for helping to make our vision for the home page of this site a reality. We wish you the very best in all your future projects, and sincerely hope to see you as Edie again, somewhere, some time, some day !
Despite press releases and all kinds of rumors. NOTHING is set for Christine to reprise her role in London(as much as she'd love to). If and when this happens, you'll hear it here first !
